On the Wings of an Angel - Angel Flight Locally based in Leesburg, Florida, Angel Flight Southeast is just one branch of one of the country's premier non-profit organizations. Just in our region alone, Angel Flight is made up of more than 650 volunteer pilots who utilize their own aircraft, fuel, and time to provide free air transportation to medical facilities for citizens who are financially distressed or otherwise unable to travel on public transportation. In one year, Angel Flight Southeast and its group of all volunteer pilots fly over 1,500 missions, which adds up to over 4 every single day. However, the upkeep of such an expansive |
organization is not without difficulty, and thus people and businesses throughout the community are stepping in to aid those who help so much already. Recently on October 1, and Sunday, November 6, Angel Flight Southeast and sponsors such as Rue & Ziffra, P.A. are hosting a poker run and golf tournament to raise funds for the organization.
For the past several years, the volunteers of the Palm Coast Wing have put together an exciting and heavily attended poker run while those of Leesburg have created an annual golf tournament with food, fun, and prizes. Please join us for one or both of these worthwhile events! More information will be forthcoming in the next few weeks, so please click here to gather the latest. |
Unlike automobiles, motorcyclists are limited in the amount of insurance coverage that they can purchase. Whereas Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage is mandatory for all automobile owners to pay for any damages resulting from an accident, this is not available for owners of motorcycles.
However, motorcycle owners can find themselves covered through four main types of insurance: Liability Insurance - This is insurance that can be purchased by automobile and motorcycle owners that will pay (up to the limit stated in their policy) for the injured party's damages.
Health Insurance - After receiving benefits from the negligent party's liability insurance, the injured party can seek further relief from any pre-purchased health insurance coverage up to the limits stated in their policy.
Uninsured Motorist - This is a type of insurance that will provide relief to an injured party when the negligent party does not have liability insurance or does not have enough liability insurance to cover the injuries and damages. The injured party will receive benefits up to the limits stated in their own uninsured motorist policy. Most motorcyclists don't realize, however, that they can also collect this insurance on their automobile policy if the UM coverage they carry is "Stacking."
Underinsured Motorist - Similar to uninsured motorist, this is a type of insurance that will provide relief to an injured party when the negligent party does not have enough liability insurance to cover the damages sustained from the accident. The injured party will receive benefits up to the limits stated in their own underinsured motorist policy.
