May 22 On the fourth Friday of each month, multiple venues in Sanford's downtown historic district host the Sanford Art Walk, showcasing local talent along with opportunities to meet visiting artists. The event is free and runs from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Visit here
This month's participating venues are Gallery on First, Historic Sanford Welcome Center, Hyder Gallery Center for Fine Art, Jeanine Taylor Folk Art, and String Theory Creations. To extend your Art Walk, visit Little Fish Huge Pond with a late night reception until 10pm. All venues are within walking distance of one another and will be open late for patrons to stroll in the downtown district and enjoy art and refreshments.
In June, Sanford Art Walk will expand with the addition of two new venues: Current Gallery and Tony's Deli. Visit downtown Sanford for a pedestrian friendly shopping corridor enhanced by live music venues, upscale bars and award winning restaurants, all just blocks from the scenic RiverWalk promenade along the St. Johns River.

Gallery on First, at 211 E. 1st St., will be showcasing Mixed Up Media, new work by Tom Abbott. His geometric 3-D works on canvas are colorful, creative, and just plain fun. He has a knack for putting together different material into striking patterns and shapes. More Info.
Historic Sanford Welcome Center, at 230 E. 1st St., will offer a juried show with multiple artists. The theme is the color red. Red is one of those colors that grabs the eye and stirs the soul. Artwork will be an interpretation of this evocative color. Mingle with the artists as you enjoy live music and lots of art. This is the only monthly juried art show with both a "Judges' Choice" award chosen by a panel of judges and a "People's Choice" award chosen by the attendees of the show. Jeanine Taylor Folk Art, at 211 E. 1st St., will be hosting Alabama artist Charlie Lucas, aka The Tin Man. Using discarded objects to create new artwork, Lucas recognizes the potential for renewal in all people. He discovered his talent for working in tin after a disabling back injury sent him to prayer for a new way to make a living. He has been recognized by the State of Alabama as a Master Artist. Little Fish Huge Pond, at 401 S. Sanford Ave., will feature the drawings of Teresa Markos, a native of Deltona. She works primarily with graphite on Bristol paper. She got her start drawing portraits from the posters in Tiger Beat magazine. She is available for commissions and can be reached at teresamarkos@gmail.com Extend your Art Walk evening at this funky bar that features live music in the heart of Sanford's entertainment district. String Theory Creations, at 204 E. 1st St., will feature fresh-from-the-sea jewelry. Gallery owner Linda Hollerbach is teaming up with featured artist Scott Kemper-Lynch to bring beautiful mermaid and ocean inspired jewelry to this month's Art Walk. Enjoy imported wine and chocolate while exploring the sea of handmade pieces in pearl, copper, and sea-glass. More Info.
