Within the entrepreneur and startup fabric of Central Florida, the company Ky co-founded and manages, Office Divvy provides business location and workspaces to the business community, as well as outsourced operations such as Professional Phone Answering and Virtual Assistance Services. Office Divvy is a prime example of how a company can benefit from CareerSource Flagler Volusia's services and Ky will share some of his experiences on that front. Ky has a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Travel and Hospitality Management from Uludag University, and a Master's Degree in Management from Cambridge College. What are the top three reasons you choose to base your business in Flagler & Volusia County? 1) Quality of Life (including Work and Life Balance) 2) The diverse make up of population of the area 3) Talent pool - in terms of partnership as well as potential employees. How do you motivate yourself during difficult times? Much like life, business has its ups and downs. Like most entrepreneurs I have a little bit of fighter in my DNA, which certainly helps in difficult times to stay motivated. But what helps more is to have tremendous business partners, which I do; and a very competent, motivated, caring and talented team around me, which I do. What should be the top 3 skills of your ideal employee? 1) High thick-skin rating (ability to take feedback and know what to do with the feedback) 2) Problem Solving Skills (and "common-sense" is also a must have) 3) Listening and Communication skills How have CareerSource Flagler Volusia services helped your business? CareerSource's On The Job Training for newly sought / onboarded team members has been a tremendous benefit for Office Divvy. We are grateful for having access into CareerSource's portal and databases to search for potential employees, list our job openings, and most importantly have reimbursement for training of a new-hire as he or she is performing the job duties. The first 30 to 60 days of a new-hire is the costliest and most burdensome time period of an employee for any organization, while that employee learns the company culture, gains required skills, and learns to perform the tasks as they should be performed. The other service (which we discovered more recently), Customized Training for existing team members, is also a tremendous benefit to any organization. The ability to re-motivate and sharpen the skills of existing employees through structured learning experiences, with minimum financial burden on the company, is a huge plus. I am not exaggerating when I say CareerSource's programs, services and help have been priceless for Office Divvy, and we are truly grateful for that.
