Updates to North Causeway Plan to be discussed
City officials will meet later this month to discuss updates to the North Causeway Plan including options for use of the Administrative Office Building (AOB) site at 160 N. Causeway. The meeting will be at 5 p.m., February 26, at New Smyrna Beach City Hall Commission Chambers, 210 Sams Avenue. The AOB site is one of the last vacant waterfront parcels in New Smyrna Beach's core area. An all-day community workshop on the North Causeway Plan will begin at 9 a.m., Saturday, April 6, at the New Smyrna Beach Woman's Club, 403 Magnolia Street. 2nd Economic Development Summit
March 2

Updating the City's Economic Development Plan is a priority for New Smyrna Beach leaders. To garner input from stakeholders, the City is hosting its 2nd Economic Development Summit from 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Saturday, March 2, in City Commission Chambers at New Smyrna Beach City Hall, 210 Sams Avenue. Amy Evancho, President and CEO of the Florida Economic Development Council, Inc., will be the keynote speaker and is expected to discuss trends to stimulate and maintain economic viability. New CRA stakeholders meeting March 4
As the City of New Smyrna Beach continues to prepare an application for a new community redevelopment district, a series of stakeholder meetings are scheduled to solicit input from those who may benefit from the district. Meetings are scheduled Tuesday, March 5, in New Smyrna Beach City Hall Commission Chambers, 210 Sams Avenue, New Smyrna Beach. Meeting times are 9 - 10 a.m., 1- 2 p.m., and 5 p.m. The proposed CRA includes US 1 from just north of the municipal airport to the southern City limits, parts of the Historic Westside Community, the Canal Street Historic District, Bert Fish Medical Center, a portion of SR 44 to include the former K-Mart building, and contiguous residential areas. Seating is limited. Reservations are suggested by calling Donna M. Gray-Banks, community resource coordinator, at 386.314.4849.

Businesses encouraged to attend Job Fair March 14
Businesses may make the most of their time by participating in the second annual New Smyrna Beach Job Fair from 10 a.m.- 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 14, at the Alonzo "Babe" James Community Center, 201 N. Myrtle Ave., New Smyrna Beach. Participating businesses will have the opportunity to survey a large number of job applicants quickly and inexpensively during the event. They also will be able to network with other employers and cross-promote their business. Space is first come, first served. Advanced registration is required. The cost is $20 per table. Checks and envelopes should be made out to NSB Job Fair and mailed to New Smyrna Beach CRA Office, 210 Sams Avenue. For more information, please contact Donna Gray-Banks at dbanks@cityofnsb.com.


Hub receives rental assistance grant
For the second year, the CRA board has approved a $50,000 rental assistance grant
for the Hub on Canal. It is the second year the organization has received rental assistance funds. CRA program guidelines make "non-profit cultural arts business consortia" eligible for an initial grant followed by up to two additional years of funding to be provided on a sliding scale. The Hub is home to more than 70 artists at its Canal Street Historic District location.
